The APAAR ID Card was launched by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Indian Government as a component of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aimed at providing unique identification numbers to students across India.

Referred to as the ‘One Nation One Student ID Card,’ the APAAR ID serves a significant purpose for students by digitally consolidating their comprehensive academic records, including achievements, degrees, scholarships, and various other credentials.

The complete designation of APAAR ID is 'Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry.' The Government of India has set up the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC Bank) for the purpose of issuing APAAR ID cards. This card serves as a central repository for educational records, referred to as an 'EduLocker.'

The APAAR ID card, introduced by the Ministry of Education, serves as a digital identification for students enrolled in both public and private educational institutions throughout India. Its primary purpose is to facilitate the online collection of students' academic accomplishments, degrees, and other relevant information.

The APAAR ID is a permanent identifier that monitors a student's educational progress, thereby simplifying the process of transferring between different schools. Educational institutions will issue this card to all students, from pre-primary levels to higher education, in conjunction with their existing Aadhaar ID.

Students can obtain the APAAR card following their registration. This card features a distinctive 12-digit APAAR number, which students can utilize to access benefits and manage their academic records with ease. Additionally, the One Nation One Student ID Card will be associated with the students' Aadhaar card number. The introduction of the APAAR ID represents a crucial advancement towards a more organized and accessible academic experience for students.
